Pilates

Pilates is a non-impact and physical conditioning discipline. Pilates can benefit anyone that is looking to work and condition the body from the inside out and is popular with ladies and men of any age or level of experience. Pilates enhances positive body awareness and body confidence. 

Regular practice of Mat Pilates will balance your body, build strong 'core' muscles (abdominal and lower back muscles that support the spine), improve posture, concentration, flexibility, efficiency of movement, and mobility. Pilates enhances sports performance; alleviates back problems, helps with postural alignment and reduces physical and mental fatigue.

At COMO Shambhala, we offer both matwork classes and individual sessions on the reformer.

  • Beginners

    Recommended for students who have completed the Intro to Pilates course. This class will cover Pilates fundamentals and build on the classical mat series of exercises. Pilates 'props' will be also be introduced, helping one to improve coordination and stability of the body and mind.

  • General

    A whole repertoire of classical mat exercises integrating control, flexibility, core strength, precision, breath, flow of movement using a whole range of Pilates 'props'. A challenging class for experienced practitioners.

  • Body-sculpt

    This class comprises of energising mat routines that offers optimal resistance exercise load to target lower and upper body. Integrating precision and control using resistance tube, ring and ball, this class benefits those for whose wants to tone and streamline their body without adding the extra bulk. Suitable for students who have a consistent practice at beginner level as well as advanced level.

  • Reformer

    Pilates on the reformer is an overall resistance workout for the whole body, with focus on building strength, flexibility, mental concentration and balance. This is a 60-minute session, with personal attention and supervision from the Pilates instructor.
